Not too shabby.

This is definitely good dude, I really enjoyed it. However, it doesn't really seem to be as much of a remix as it is a remastered version. I like the little speed ups that occur, that was a nice touch... It does get a tad repetitive towards the end.. There were wAAYY too many FL presets for my liking, but that's pure nit picking. I'm not gonna lie, your remixing skill needs work. This didn't have that much in it that was different from the original other than the tempo changes, classic sonic sounds, and maybe a few extra arps in the background. However, I think you have great potential. My biggest advice is try making the song YOURS - remix it so that it would come out the way YOU want it to be. Also, practice creating your own synths. Tweak knobs, change oscillators, mess around until you find a sound that you like! Keep at it!

You know, as critical as that was, I've gotta agree with a lot of that. At the time I made this, I was running off of the demo version of FL Studio. I couldn't work on songs for more than an hour or two because I couldn't save my tracks. I've registered now, and I'm composing my own songs as I'm writing this. However, I did put a lot more work into this than I have with past remixes, and If you compare it to the original track side-by-side, It really does sound quite a bit different.

Hmm!

Interesting.... This would make an excellent loop for a simple cartoon or game. It sounds like it'd be good for an opening screen. It's short, simple, and moderately repetitive, but it's oddly catchy. I found myself bebopping around while listening to it. I'd say that it's pretty good, especially for a first submission. I don't know if you EQ'd anything in this, but it all sounds nice, clear, and well mastered. Good job Viper, I think you might have some potential.

Viperodriguez responds:

Thanks for the comment. I didn't think it was bad either for being done on grandma proof software. When I was playing it on a piano I thought it was too bright and happy to expand into a song-I didn't have lyrics that could match the mood. It is also very much an experiment in syncopation, I really like writing things on the up-beats. As for EQ'ing, I arranged it with GarageBand, so I don't know if that's even a feature on the software. I did actually adjust the volume channels. Again thanks for commenting.

Finally, something new!

Excellent man, really excellent! I can hear the Alice Deejay song in there, as well as a few melodies I don't know (which I'm guessing are the melodies for Soldiers Story?). This is definitely not what I expected though. The fact that it has resident evil vocals and material in it sounds kinda... well, odd. I was expecting something dark and intense because of the name, not a remix of an Alice Deejay song. Still very enjoyable, but I must say that I was a little dissapointed that it wasn't something dark. Great job nonetheless!

SkyMarshall responds:

Thanks for yet another excellent review man:) There is most def noticable amounts of Alice Deejay in there, and yes - there is a fair amount of my own original "Soldier's Story". I wont upload that one, since it is a FastTracker 2.08 production, and not good enough to spread on this site. At least the audio quality is not up to it. Anyway, I agree it got a little to happy for the Resident Evil theme - but I think it worked out okay enough. But yes, when you mention it - I kinda wish I had gone for a more fitting darker theme. But maybe next time, plenty of dark stuff out there to inspire another go at the whole thing. Maybe the next RE-game gets me going once again.

Glad you like it, thanks a bunchie lad :)

NO way.

Being a HUGE fan of boss music, I absolutely love this! The feeling is perfectly stressed and tense, yet jamming at the same time. It makes me think that it'd be in a Final Fantasy game, or perhaps even in a Ace Combat style flight simulator boss fight. Just great man, 10!

NemesisTheory responds:

Also into bossmusic? Awesome! All the more reason for me to be happy that you like it XD
I'm glad you liked it :D

A Fantastic beat!

A beautiful intro, a brilliantly cool sounding beat, a beautiful melodie.... This song is just beautiful! However, I found that it was fairly lacking in the bass section (this is my lead complaint for many songs on newgrounds... I know it gets old after awhile, but I'm a sucker for bass)... I couldn't hear any noticeable bass sounds. It was fairly empty in that sense. However, I must say that absolutely everything else in this track freakin' rocks! Nice job dude!

GronmonSE responds:

Ugh, I always forget the bass. I just have no decent bass synths or instruments for that matter. I'll try to remember that next time :D

Thanks for the review.

Whoa!

WHoaaa, now this is impressive. As this is the first song you've submitted here, I figured that it was gonna suck, but MAN I was proven wrong. Great synth work.. I think I heard a Squeeze effect on the piano that came in at 1:11, nice touch there... There's some great synth work in this one. It has several great melodies and such, I'm loving this man.

genee responds:

thank you very much, thanks for the first review too :D, for the main piano melody i have to give credit to my buddy GronmonSE ^^ , since it is a remix from his song, listen to his soung at this link

INDUSTRIAL METAL

Dude, this reminds me of Nine Inch Nails. EVERYTHING is distorted, which would normally be a REALLY crappy touch, but you did this all perfectly. I think of NIN's new song 1,000,000 when I hear the guitar sound. I'd say that this is fairly good. btw, where'd you get those samples? I'm thinking I might remix this song now.

Definitely better!

You're already improving. This one is far better than Starburst Paradise. You still need some work though. I actually like the beat for the snare and kick, that was a nifty beat... Ooh, the transition at 1:20 was EXTREMELY rough... I personally think it would've been a bit better without the fadeout and the sudden spazzmode of fruit kicks. This one has a nice orchestral bit to it... I'm convinced that you can compose, this one has some great composition (save the bad transition) for a beginning song. Just keep it up!

btw
Be careful when you use simsynth. It's actually very hard to use a simsynth sound effect and make it sound good.

Nightfirecat responds:

Kay, thanks for the suggestions.

Well...

So, going into the music biz, eh? I apologize if I seem like a jerk when I say this, but you've got a long way to go man. It sounds about average for a first mix... All I've gotta say is PRACTICE. That's the best way to learn how to use FL. Just push buttons and twist knobs to see what they do. Test out every effect, tweak every synth around, and try learning some tricks for making a good layered synth or applying filter sweeps. Just keep on practicing man!

Nightfirecat responds:

Yeah, I know this one isn't great, but I didn't spend very long using FL for this one... And I had just figured out how to use patterns, so yeah...

Though it's simple to you, I'm impressed.

This one is DEFINITELY easy to like - it's got an excellent trancy melody with a lot of arps and gated synths. It's all very well blended, nothing sticks out too much. I particularly like the part around 3:39 (and before that) where the little soft beep and strings sort of trade places to catch the listeners attention. First you focus on the beep's melody, then all of a sudden the focus switches over to the string melody. I thought that was a neat little touch. Again man, nice job!

5/5, 9/10, fav'd, and DL'd.

SkyMarshall responds:

Yes? Well thats just cool. Im glad you appreciate it man :) I was afraid people might find this a little bit cheap and easy (which it is), and hate it. So positive feedback on this pleases the SkyMarshall. Thanks man:)
